When told that his wish to go to Walt Disney World® Resort had been approved, 3 ½-year- old Colin’s face lit up and he exclaimed: “Ahhhhhh! Like horses, lights…” He had seen the Disney World commercial in which magic horses flew to Disney World surrounded by a burst of light, and it had made such a big impression on him that he wished to fly there himself.
Diagnosed with a brain tumor, young Colin has already undergone chemotherapy and brain surgery, and he must still have an MRI every three to six months. Fortunately, he is doing quite well right now, and loves talking about the many things he saw and did during his wish trip.
Accompanied by his parents, grandmother, older brother and three older sisters, Colin stayed at Give Kids The World Village, a special resort just for kids with life-threatening illnesses and their families. There, he met Mayor Clayton (the Big Rabbit), and many other favorite characters. Colin makes special mention of the ice cream shop, the talking tree, and that he had been able to touch real, live animals at nearby Sea World.
And that’s not all! He told us about a button next to the resort pool that sprayed water like a fountain when he pushed it - that was soooo much fun! Colin also proudly reported that for him, the best part was being allowed to go in the water for the very first time. He jumped into the pool, went under the water and had an absolutely wonderful time.
Colin remembers so many things, and asked his mom to tell us about his wish, too. She complied with a smile and added, “Thank you could never begin to express our gratitude. Everyone involved knew better what we needed than we knew ourselves. No detail was overlooked and no opportunity passed over that would make all of us feel incredibly special. The trip was spectacular and provided us all with memories we will always carry in our hearts.”
