Announces
Record-Breaking Annual Gala at The Pierre
New
York , New York , June 18, 2007 ------ The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Metro
New York's annual When You Wish Upon A Star Gala
was the most successful fundraising event in the chapter's history, raising
over $2 million. The Gala, which took place on May 17, 2007 at The Pierre
in New York City , honored long-time Make-A-Wish advocates Vic
Ascrizzi , Board Member of HRG North America and a member of
the Board of Directors of Make-A-Wish Foundation of Metro New York and
Pamela Daley , Senior Vice President of Corporate Development,
GE.
The
nomination of Mr. Ascrizzi and Ms. Daley as honorees stimulated a record
ten title sponsorships to support the event. During the evening, both
Mr. Ascrizzi and Ms. Daley generously announced additional contributions
to the Foundation: Mr. Ascrizzi announced a “Wish Bank,” with donations
of airplane tickets by five major airlines to reduce the cash costs of
travel wishes; Ms. Daley presented a promotional video produced by NBC/Universal
that tells the touching story of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
“The
Gala was an historic occasion for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Metro
New York,” said president and CEO Pat Clemency, “but most importantly,
a testament to the wonderful things that can be accomplished for children
with life-threatening medical conditions when the Make-A-Wish ® family
pulls together and challenges and inspires others to help make dreams
come true.”
The
presence of seven wish children and their families added
to the overall feeling of joy and excitement during the evening. Listening
to the children's wish experiences allowed the close to 700 members of
New York 's business and philanthropic elite to experience first-hand
the positive impact of a wish on a child's life.
Completing
the evening's feeling of enthusiasm and generosity was the surprise announcement
by Stewart Rahr , President and CEO of Kinray Inc. and
member of the Advisory Board of Make-A-Wish Foundation of Metro New York,
to launch the 25th anniversary campaign of the Metro New York Chapter
with an individual donation of $1 million - the first seven-figure individual
donation in the history of the Metro New York chapter.

For
11 th Annual Make-A-Wish® Outing
LAKE
SUCCESS, N.Y., April 4, 2007 – Ten years and more than a half million
dollars later, the CoreNet Global Long Island Chapter
continues its proud tradition of helping local kids with the announcement
of its 11 th Annual Make-A-Wish Golf and Tennis Outing ,
set for Monday, July 16, 2007 at Engineers Country Club in Roslyn Harbor
and North Shore Country Club in Glenwood Landing.
Since
its inception in 1996, CoreNet's annual outing has raised more than $550,000
to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation ® , which grants wishes to children
with life-threatening medical conditions. In that time, event proceeds
have provided wish experiences for 87 children and their families served
by the Metro New York chapter, and golf and tennis enthusiasts have thoroughly
enjoyed their participation.
“I
participate in a lot of outings each year, and the CoreNet/Make-A-Wish
outing is the best run and one of the best attended outings of the year,”
said Edward J. D'Orazio, AIA , senior vice president for Lorich Construction Management.
The
Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Metro New York honored
the ongoing support of this group and the event's founder, Dominic D'Angelo,
in December 2006 by establishing the CoreNet Global Long Island
Chapter Wish Fund in honor of Mr. D'Angelo. The fund celebrates
a CoreNet/Make-A-Wish partnership that has flourished under Mr. D'Angelo's
guidance and the commitment of CoreNet's membership, and establishes a
formal vehicle for directing future Make-A-Wish contributions either from
or in honor of CoreNet.
This
is now the second fund resulting from CoreNet's commitment to the Foundation.
The 2005 CoreNet outing paid tribute to Karen Kellner, who for the prior
six years worked tirelessly as event co-chair. Ms. Kellner passed away
earlier that year, and CoreNet established an endowment that will grant
a wish in perpetuity in her name through the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
CoreNet
Global Long Island membership have really embraced this event over the
years, and the results have been spectacular,” said Patricia Clemency
, President and CEO for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Metro New York.
“It's truly invigorating to see how these caring people pour their heart
and soul into this effort, and we're thrilled and thankful that so many
kids in need will continue to benefit.”
