Ryan wished to go behind the scenes at the Indianapolis 500

At the annual Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Metro New York Gala in May, racing fanatic Ryan received a special send-off prior to flying to Indianapolis to fulfill his wish of experiencing the Indianapolis 500 from a behind-the-scenes perspective.   Fellow wish child and NASCAR racing fan Simon gave Ryan a racing jacket and hat to prepare him for his once-in-a-lifetime dream.   Just a few days later, the 14-year-old flew from Brooklyn to Indianapolis for a fun-filled, racing-themed trip with his parents and grandmother.

While in Indianapolis for the race, Ryan was able to meet numerous racers and racing celebrities, participate in Coors Carb Day, get a tour of the pits, visit the Speedway Hall of Fame, and ride in a float during the Annual Festival Parade.   Ryan also got to ride in a pace car around the famed track prior to the race, and then viewed the race from the Oldsmobile suite.   He even got to attend the Victory Dinner celebrating Helio Castroneves' win in the 85 th running of this legendary race.

An aspiring race car driver himself, Ryan is fascinated with cars, trucks, motorcycles and racing in general.    His dream to have the ultimate racing fan experience came true as he got to be a part of the leading American race, the Indianapolis 500.
