Make-A-Wish Metro New York and Western New York was recently awarded a $25,000 grant from the American Express Foundation
to fund an online volunteer portal.
The portal will provide enhanced resources for volunteers as well as greater access to real-time information from the organization regarding volunteer opportunities, trainings and events. The mobile-friendly site will allow volunteers to engage more easily with the chapter and with each other, providing a channel for them to share information and to support one another.
Make-A-Wish Metro New York and Western New York was one of 15 nonprofit organizations selected earlier this year to participate in the 2015 American Express Serve2Gether Consulting program, sponsored by American Express and the Taproot Foundation. Members of the Make-A-Wish Volunteer Resources team, including Kim St. Bernard, Senior Director, and managers Heather Joseph and Lisa Johnson, worked with a team from American Express for 10 weeks putting together the award winning proposal that focused on increasing volunteer engagement, rewards and recognition.
Thank you to everyone involved for your hard work in bringing this mission-focused project to fruition.
