Yosemite. It’s the quintessential national park and to 8-year-old Gabriel it’s the perfect place for a wish.
In the summer of 2014, Make-A-Wish (Make-A-Wish Central and Northern Florida and Make-A-Wish Central California) and the National Park Service granted Gabriel’s wish to be a park ranger in Yosemite National Park. Gabriel, who has Ehlers-Danlos syndrome – a sometimes life-threatening connective tissue disorder that impacts the strength of skin, joints, and in Gabe’s case, blood vessel walls and the heart – took part in an action packed, unforgettable day. Watch as Gabriel fights forests fires, rescues a stranded hiker, and is sworn in as a full-fledged park ranger. For him, it’s all in a day’s work.
Gabriel’s wish is just one example of the more than 250,000 life-changing wishes Make-A-Wish has granted in the United States since 1980…and there are always more wishes to grant and more lives to change.
