is a happy, energetic little girl who loves Disney princesses and couldn’t wait to go on her wish trip to Walt Disney World®
Resort with her mother, Ina, twin sister, Shannon, and her grandmother. Make-A-Wish®
volunteers had given Madison a princess dress and shoes in anticipation of her trip, which she proudly wore during her trip. For one treasured week, the adventure never stopped for Madison. While seeing the princesses was a true delight for her, Ina tells us that a world of new discoveries opened up for the little girl during her wish trip.
“Me and my sister had so much fun at the Pirates and Princess Party,” Madison happily tells us. Ina says that while she knew Madison would enjoy meeting the princesses at the party, she was surprised to see how fascinated the little girl and her sister were to meet the pirates. “They spent most of the time with pirates at the party, even though the princesses were right there,” says Ina. The pirate, Long John Silver, was just as fascinated with the chatty girls, whose vivacious personalities charm everyone they meet. The pirate and his crew paid special attention to Madison, spending a lot of time talking with her and telling her stories. After the party, Long John Silver gave Madison and Shannon seashells and told them an interesting story about each shell. It was a party the whole family enjoyed.
Madison proudly says that one of the best parts on her trip was going to the “big pool.” As both girls have sickle cell disease, they are sensitive to the cold water of unheated pools, and were happy to swim carefree in the heated pool at Give Kids the World. “This was the first time the girls had spent any time in a large pool,” says Ina. “They were comfortable.”
After they returned from Walt Disney World® Resort, the family put together a look book, which allows Madison the opportunity to re-visit all the precious moments of her wish trip and keeps her smiling even as she faces challenges ahead. “The wish experience meant a lot for the family” Ina tells us, realizing how much joy the wish trip had brought to Madison and the entire family.
