Thomas learned about Zion National Park through the video game series Fall Out – one of his favorites. The beauty of the park captivated him, even in the game’s post-apocalyptic world.
Throughout his long two-year battle with leukemia, he never wavered in his wish – he wanted to see Zion for himself and take in the beautiful scenery. After all he endured throughout his long treatment, he just knew this trip would be the perfect antidote.
Thomas and his family were not disappointed. They experienced all the natural beauty the park had to offer, taking it in from jeep tours and hikes. They capped off their stay by camping out in the park on their last night. It was Tommy’s first time camping and it was a truly memorable experience. He and his family made s'mores by the campfire and watched the stars.
A wish can give a child renewed energy and strength and bring a family closer together, especially after the strain of a long-fought critical illness. The transformational power of a wish is evident in Thomas’ smile.
