loves the water. After experiencing swimming pools at the local Y, being in the water has become one of Angel’s favorite activities.
Consequently, a home spa/hot tub was the perfect wish for this young girl, who due to her illness is non-verbal. The idea was partly inspired by one of Angel’s friends who has a similar hot tub, but the joy and benefits it has brought Angel are unique.
The day her home spa arrived, Angel was so excited she did her “happy dance,” according to mom. She was eager to jump into the tub right away! Thanks to a life jacket, she has the ability to move on her own and be free, an experience that her illness does not allow her most of the time. She especially loves scooting around on the bottom of the tub and enjoys her independence.
Aside from a sense of joy and freedom, her wish has also benefited her in other ways. "It relaxes her and gives her a better night’s sleep," her mom says. “We love that it is portable,” she adds. It is great in the winter because it offers the ability to swim inside when cold weather would prevent the use of an outdoor pool, and it is also great in the summer so Angel can enjoy the warmer weather.
“In the winter, all Angel wants is to be in the hot tub,” says her mother. Angel loves her new spa. The only problem now may be trying to get her to come out!
